stratocumulus

Low lumpy overcast

Stratocumulus is a type of low-lying cloud formation appearing as lumpy, rounded masses arranged in patches or layers.

Unlike the flat, uniform stratus clouds, stratocumulus shows distinct individual elements—gray or whitish rolls, sometimes with darker patches between them.

These clouds typically form below 6,500 feet and often cover most of the sky: The morning stratocumulus broke up by noon.
