great rooms
Spacious combined areas
A great room is a large, open living space in a home that combines multiple functions—typically living, dining, and kitchen areas—into one expansive area without walls between them.
The term emerged with American home design trends favoring open floor plans: The great room opens onto the back patio.
Great rooms often feature high ceilings and serve as the main gathering space for families.
