goofballs
Lovably ridiculous folks
Goofballs are silly, goofy people—harmless oddballs who act foolishly or clownishly: Those goofballs spent the whole meeting cracking jokes.
The singular goofball also refers to a barbiturate or sedative pill, especially in mid-20th-century slang, from the dopey behavior such drugs induce.
