gonzo journalism
Reporter becomes story
Gonzo journalism is a style of reporting in which the journalist abandons objectivity to become part of the story, blending personal experience, exaggeration, and subjective commentary with factual reporting.
The term is associated with Hunter S.
Thompson, whose drug-fueled, first-person accounts defined the form: His coverage of the Kentucky Derby was pure gonzo journalism—more about his own antics than the race itself.
