gold frame
Yellow metal surround
A gold frame is a picture frame finished in gold color, whether actual gold leaf, gold paint, or gold-toned material.
Gold frames suggest formality and tradition, often surrounding portraits, classical paintings, or diplomas: The old masters hung in ornate gold frames.
The term can describe the color regardless of the frame's actual material or value.
