geothermal field
Earth's heat reservoir
A geothermal field is an area where heat from the earth's interior reaches near the surface, typically marked by hot springs, geysers, steam vents, or volcanic activity.
These fields are tapped for energy production, with wells drilled to access hot water or steam that drives turbines: Iceland generates most of its electricity from geothermal fields.
