frontloader

Horizontal drum appliance

A frontloader is a washing machine that loads from the front rather than the top, with a door on the side of the drum.

Frontloaders typically use less water and energy than toploaders.

The term also applies to construction equipment—a tractor or loader with a bucket mounted at the front for moving earth, gravel, or debris: The frontloader cleared the construction site in an hour.
