front slash
Virgule on keyboards
Front slash is an informal name for the forward slash (/), distinguishing it from the backslash (\).
The term arose with computing, where both characters appear on keyboards and serve different functions.
Most people just say slash; front slash emerges mainly when clarifying which direction the line tilts: Is that a front slash or a backslash?
