front organization
Deceptive cover group
A front organization is an entity that appears independent but secretly serves another organization's interests—typically concealing the involvement of a government, intelligence agency, or criminal enterprise.
The front provides legitimacy or deniability: The charity turned out to be a front organization for money laundering.
Also called a front group or simply a front.
