fractured fairy tale
Twisted traditional story
A fractured fairy tale is a retelling of a traditional fairy tale that subverts, parodies, or reimagines the original story.
The fracturing might involve changed perspectives the wolf's side of Little Red Riding Hood, modern settings, twisted endings, or satirical commentary.
The form is common in children's entertainment and comedy, treating familiar tales irreverently while assuming the audience knows the source material.
