four-top
Small dining table
A four-top is a restaurant table that seats four people.
The term comes from industry jargon used by servers and hosts: We've got a four-top opening up by the window.
Two-tops, six-tops, and eight-tops follow the same pattern.
The word sometimes refers to the party itself rather than the table: There's a four-top waiting to be seated.
