floating bridges
Buoyant roadway structures
Floating bridges are structures that rest on pontoons or other buoyant supports rather than fixed foundations, allowing them to span bodies of water where conventional bridges would be impractical due to depth or soft lake beds.
The term also refers to temporary military bridges assembled from portable floats: Engineers constructed a floating bridge to move troops across the river.
