flight controllers
Spacecraft operation supervisors
Flight controllers are personnel who monitor and direct spacecraft or aircraft operations from the ground.
In aerospace, they work in mission control, each responsible for specific systems—guidance, life support, communications—coordinating to ensure safe flight: Flight controllers celebrated as the capsule splashed down.
The term also refers to the physical controls—joysticks, throttles, pedals—that pilots use to maneuver an aircraft.
