fisheyes

Cold, doubting stares

Fisheyes are suspicious or hostile sideways glances: She gave him the fisheye when he walked in late.

The term evokes the unblinking, wide-eyed stare of a fish.

A fisheye lens in photography has an extremely wide angle that produces curved distortion at the edges, mimicking how a fish might see the world from underwater.
