fire bow
Primitive fire tool
A fire bow is a primitive tool for starting fires by friction.
It consists of a bow whose string wraps around a wooden spindle; sawing the bow back and forth spins the spindle rapidly against a fireboard, generating enough heat to create an ember.
Also called a bow drill.
He practiced with the fire bow until he could reliably start a campfire.
