finger to nose
Coordination check gesture
Finger to nose is a gesture of secrecy or conspiracy, made by touching the index finger to the side of the nose.
It signals that something should be kept quiet or that speaker and recipient share confidential knowledge: He gave a finger-to-nose gesture when I asked how he'd gotten us the reservation.
The gesture also appears in sobriety tests, where subjects must touch their nose with eyes closed to demonstrate coordination.
