filler episodes
Plot-free TV installments
Filler episodes are installments of a television series—especially anime—that don't advance the main plot or develop core characters.
They exist to pad out a season, often while source material catches up or to meet episode quotas.
Fans use the term dismissively: I skipped all the filler episodes.
The adjective filler applies similarly to any padding content: filler arcs, filler content.
