fecundation
Sperm meets egg
Fecundation is the act of fertilizing or making fertile.
The term applies to the biological process of an egg being fertilized by sperm, or more broadly to enriching soil or stimulating productivity: the fecundation of the fields after spring flooding.
The word is formal and somewhat technical, more common in scientific writing than everyday speech.
