febrile
Running a temperature
Febrile means having or relating to a fever, and is used chiefly in medical contexts: The patient presented with febrile symptoms.
By extension, febrile describes any state of nervous excitement or agitation, suggesting the restlessness and intensity that accompany a high temperature: the febrile atmosphere of the trading floor.
The word implies heightened activity that may be unsustainable or slightly unhealthy.
