farm league
Player development tier
A farm league is a minor league in professional sports, especially baseball, where players develop skills before advancing to the major leagues.
Teams in farm leagues are often affiliated with major league franchises, which use them to train prospects.
Figuratively, farm league describes anything considered second-tier or preparatory: That's farm league stuff compared to what we're doing here.
