false-flags

Blamed on others

False-flags are covert operations designed to appear as though carried out by someone other than the actual perpetrator—historically, a ship flying another nation's flag to deceive enemies.

The term now commonly describes attacks staged to look like the work of a different group, often to justify retaliation: Critics claimed the bombing was a false-flag to provoke war.

In conspiracy circles, false-flag has become a catchall accusation that any publicized atrocity was secretly orchestrated by hidden actors.
