fakes out
Misleads with feint
To fake out is to deceive or trick someone, typically through a misleading movement or action: The running back faked out the defender and ran for a touchdown.
Common in sports, where a fake-out is a deceptive move that causes an opponent to react the wrong way.
More broadly, it means to fool someone into a false expectation: I thought she was mad, but she was just faking me out.
