faith-based charity
Church-sponsored giving organization
A faith-based charity is a nonprofit organization rooted in religious beliefs and often affiliated with a church, mosque, synagogue, or other religious institution.
These organizations provide social services—food banks, shelters, disaster relief—motivated by spiritual principles: The faith-based charity ran a soup kitchen downtown.
They may or may not require religious participation from those they serve.
