exe file
Windows application format
An exe file (or .exe file) is an executable file in Windows operating systems—a program that runs when you open it.
The extension comes from "executable." Because exe files can run code directly on your computer, they're a common vector for malware: Don't open exe files from unknown sources.
Double-click the exe to install the software.
