exchange-traded funds
Traded index portfolios
Exchange-traded funds are investment vehicles that hold a basket of assets—stocks, bonds, commodities—and trade on stock exchanges like individual shares.
Unlike mutual funds, which price once daily, ETFs can be bought and sold throughout the trading day at market prices.
Most track an index: an S&P 500 ETF, a bond ETF.
Often abbreviated ETF.
