employment-at-will

No-reason termination allowed

Employment-at-will is the legal doctrine that an employer can fire an employee at any time, for any reason or no reason, and the employee can likewise quit without notice.

This is the default rule in most U.S. states, though exceptions exist for discrimination, retaliation, or breach of contract: In an employment-at-will state, they can let you go without explanation.
