duelers
Pistols at dawn
Duelers are people who engage in duels—formal combat between two individuals, historically to settle disputes of honor.
The term applies both to participants in historical pistol or sword duels and to modern competitive contexts: The duelers faced each other at dawn.
In games and sports, duelers are opponents in one-on-one contests.
Also spelled duellers.
