life points
Game survival meter
Life points are a numerical measure of a player's remaining vitality in games, particularly trading card games and video games.
When life points reach zero, you lose.
The term originates from Yu-Gi-Oh!, where players start with 8000 life points and lose when depleted: I'll attack directly and wipe out your remaining life points.
