dry washing
Cloth wipes surfaces
Dry washing is a method of separating gold or other heavy minerals from soil without using water.
Prospectors in arid regions use air currents or mechanical agitation to blow away lighter material, leaving the heavier particles behind.
The term also applies to cleaning garments with chemical solvents rather than water—what's commercially called dry cleaning.
