dry van
Standard freight trailer
A dry van is a fully enclosed trailer used for hauling freight that doesn't require temperature control—standard boxes, pallets, consumer goods.
The "dry" distinguishes it from refrigerated trailers (reefers) that carry perishables.
Dry vans are the workhorses of the trucking industry, the most common trailer type on American highways: He's been driving dry van for fifteen years.
