A reefer truck is a refrigerated truck used to transport perishable goods at controlled temperatures.
The term comes from "refrigerated," shortened to reefer.
These trucks haul produce, meat, dairy, and pharmaceuticals across long distances: The reefer truck broke down and the whole shipment of lettuce spoiled.
Also called a reefer trailer when referring specifically to the cargo container.
