drill chuck
Rotating bit holder
A drill chuck is the clamping device at the end of a drill that grips the bit.
Most chucks have three adjustable jaws that tighten around the bit's shank.
A keyed chuck requires a small T-shaped tool to tighten or loosen the jaws; a keyless chuck is adjusted by hand: I lost the key to my drill chuck and had to replace the whole thing.
