dried riverbed
Waterless stream path
A dried riverbed is the channel where a river once flowed but no longer carries water, either seasonally or permanently.
The exposed floor often shows rocks, sand, and cracked mud.
In arid regions, dried riverbeds may fill only during rare storms: We hiked along the dried riverbed looking for fossils.
Also called a dry riverbed.
