double yolk
Egg's rare bonus
A double yolk is an egg containing two yolks instead of one, produced when a hen releases two yolks in quick succession.
Double yolks occur most often in young hens whose laying cycles haven't regulated.
They're considered lucky in some folk traditions.
I cracked open a double yolk this morning.
