double hung
Two sliding panes
Double hung describes a window with two sashes that slide vertically past each other, allowing either the top or bottom half to open.
This design improves ventilation and makes cleaning easier since both sashes can tilt inward.
Most traditional American homes have double-hung windows: We replaced the old double-hung windows with energy-efficient models.
