double clutching
Rev-matching gear change
Double clutching is a driving technique for manually shifting gears in vehicles without synchronized transmissions.
The driver disengages the clutch, shifts to neutral, releases the clutch briefly to match engine speed to wheel speed, then depresses the clutch again to complete the shift.
Once essential for trucks and older vehicles, it's now mainly used by truckers and racing enthusiasts: He double-clutched smoothly through the gears on the downgrade.
