door mats
Threshold floor covers
Door mats are coarse mats placed at entrances for wiping shoes before entering.
The material is typically rough enough to scrape off dirt and mud.
Figuratively, a doormat is a person who lets others walk all over them—someone who accepts mistreatment without resistance: Don't be such a doormat; stand up for yourself.
