donor-advised fund
Giving account vehicle
A donor-advised fund is a charitable account held by a sponsoring organization.
The donor contributes money or assets, receives an immediate tax deduction, then recommends grants to charities over time.
The sponsoring organization technically controls the funds but typically follows the donor's advice: She set up a donor-advised fund to support environmental causes over the next decade.
