A diamond record is an album or single that has sold at least ten million copies, as certified by the Recording Industry Association of America.
The designation sits above gold (500,000) and platinum (one million) certifications: Their debut album went diamond within two years.
Outside the US, other countries' certification bodies set different thresholds.
