device encryption
Secured storage encoding
Device encryption is the process of encoding all data stored on a device—phone, laptop, hard drive—so it cannot be read without the correct password or key.
If someone steals an encrypted device, they get only scrambled data.
Most modern smartphones enable device encryption by default.
Make sure device encryption is turned on before crossing the border.
