detouring
Taking alternate route
Detouring is taking an alternate route around an obstacle or closed section of road.
Traffic may be detouring around construction, or you might find yourself detouring through side streets to avoid a parade.
The word extends to any roundabout approach: We spent the afternoon detouring through antique shops on our way home.
