derange
Drive to madness
To derange is to disturb the normal functioning or arrangement of something.
A deranged mind has lost its grip on reality—the word usually describes severe mental disturbance: The isolation had completely deranged him.
Less commonly, derange applies to disrupted systems or plans: The storm deranged our travel schedule.
The adjective deranged almost always means insane or unhinged.
