degenerations
Processes of worsening
Degenerations are processes of decline or deterioration.
The word appears most often in medical contexts describing progressive worsening of tissues or organs: macular degeneration, disc degeneration in the spine.
More broadly, degeneration can describe any decline from a former state: the degeneration of civil discourse, moral degeneration.
