deallocating
Returning system resources
Deallocating is the present participle of deallocate, a computing term for releasing memory or resources that were previously reserved for a program's use.
When software finishes with allocated memory, deallocating returns it to the system for other uses: The program kept crashing because it wasn't properly deallocating memory after each operation.
