deadpan humor
Stone-faced funny business
Deadpan humor is comedy delivered with a deliberately expressionless face and flat tone, as if the speaker doesn't realize they're being funny.
The contrast between absurd content and serious delivery creates the comic effect: He described the alien invasion in his kitchen with complete deadpan.
The style relies on understatement and timing rather than obvious signals that a joke is being told.
