dambusters

Dam-destroying air squadron

Dambusters refers to the British Royal Air Force squadron that in 1943 attacked German dams using specially designed bouncing bombs, memorably depicted in the 1955 film *The Dam Busters*.

The term now applies broadly to anyone who dramatically breaches barriers or achieves spectacular destruction of obstacles: The new CEO sees herself as a dambuster, ready to demolish bureaucratic obstacles.
