crown prosecutors
Government criminal lawyers
Crown prosecutors are government lawyers who conduct criminal prosecutions on behalf of the state.
The term is used in Commonwealth countries—Canada, the UK, Australia—where criminal cases are brought in the name of the Crown (the monarch as symbol of state authority).
The crown prosecutor presented evidence to the jury.
In the US, the equivalent role is district attorney or state prosecutor.
