crossarms
Transverse pole segments
Crossarms are horizontal beams mounted on utility poles, supporting the wires for electrical or telephone lines.
The term also describes the posture of folding one's arms across the chest: She stood with crossarms, waiting for an explanation.
As a verb, to crossarm is to assume this posture or, in sports, to block an opponent with a stiff horizontal arm.
