cross ventilation
Window-to-window breeze
Cross ventilation is airflow through a building created by openings on opposite or adjacent walls.
Wind enters through one opening and exits through another, cooling the interior without mechanical systems: We designed the house with windows on both sides for cross ventilation.
The principle appears in architecture, engineering, and discussions of passive cooling.

- summer breezeGentle warm-weather wind
- sea breezeWind from ocean to land
- exhaust fansDevices expelling stale air
