cross-ruff
Bridge trump exchange
A cross-ruff is a technique in bridge and other trick-taking card games where partners alternately trump cards in each other's weak suits, ruffing back and forth between hands.
The strategy maximizes the number of tricks won by using trumps that might otherwise be wasted: They executed a perfect cross-ruff to make their contract.
